Mission Statement
The mission of the Children’s Friend Foundation is to heal the suffering and restore hope to those affected by the disease of addiction.

Purposes
Promote Prevention
- Seek out and support those who effectively communicate strategies that prevent addictions of all types.
- Create powerful media that disseminates information about the latest neuroscientific research.
Heal Suffering
- Advocate for the care and compassionate treatment of addicts as patients suffering from disease.
- Pursue and encourage the best treatment and recovery practices, so that people will not only seek treatment, but will stay sober and live productive and meaningful lives.
Restore Hope
- Optimistically champion the fact that addiction is a disease, that it can be treated successfully, and that addicts can and frequently do recover.
- Nurture the role of families and friends in successful recovery.
Our Motivation
Nearly 12% of children in the United States under the age of 18 live in homes with a substance-dependent or substance-abusing parent. The choices their parents make “can have profound effects on children, including child abuse and neglect, injuries and deaths related to motor vehicle accidents, and increased odds that the children will become substance dependent or abusers themselves” (NSDUH, “Children Living with Substance-Dependent or Substance-Abusing Parents: 2002 to 2007”).
